Warsaw tramway

The Warsaw tramway is a tram network forming part of the public transport system in Warsaw, the capital and the largest city of Poland. It is perated by the municipally-owned company Tramwaje Warszawskie sp. z.o.o.

Five interesting facts about the trams in Warsaw:

  • The first tramway entered service in 1886 as a horsecar line.
  • The first electric line was opened in 1908.
  • More than 720 trams service a total of 48 million passengers each year.
  • The city has 27 tram lines.
  • The total length of tracks is about 294 km (182 mi).
