Sołdek is the first seagoing ship put into operation in the history of the Polish shipyard industry.

Five interesting facts about the ship-museum Sołdek:

  • It was build in the Gdansk Shipyard in 1948.
  • The first foreign voyage took place in 1949, when the ship transported coal to Ghent in Belgium.
  • Until 1981, the ship made 1479 voyages, transported over 3,5 million tonnes of cargo and called at over 60 ports.
  • In 1985, it became a museum in Gdansk.
  • The ship-museum is annually visited by approximately 20 thousand tourists.

  6. Ships are so fascinating. I haven't been to Soldek, but with as much fun as my kids had watching them in the Soo Locks, I bet they would really enjoy this museum too!
