Trams in Lisbon, Portugal

The Lisbon tramway is a tram network forming part of the public transport system in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is operated by Companhia Carris de Ferro de Lisboa. No other city in Europe employs such old trams as the Remodelano trams, which originally date from the 1930s.

The first horsecar line was established in Lisbon in 1873. The first electric trams appear on the city's streets in 1901.

Lisbon has 6 tram lines. The most scenic line is the number 28, which crosses the historic Alfama district.
