Discover France: Photo Walk in Puteaux

France

Puteaux is a western suburb of Paris, France, located on the west bank of the Seine River, about 8 kilometres (5 mi) from the city centre.

Five interesting facts about the town:

  • It was established in the 12th century by Abbot Suger (1081–1151).
  • The name came from puteoli, a Latin term meaning “little well,” or “water hole”.
  • The first Chapel was built here in 1509.
  • Two thirds of the territory of La Défense (one of the principal business districts in Europe) is located within Puteaux.
  • More than 45,000 people reside here.
