Salobrena (Spanish: Salobreña) is a town and a municipality located on the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain, in Andalusia.




Five interesting facts about the town:

  • The history of town dates back over 6000 years.
  • The higher part of the Old Town is dominated by a 10th-century Moorish castle built on an impressive rock.
  • The highest elevation is 160 m (520 ft) above sea level.
  • The last remaining cane sugar factory in Europe was located outside the town at Playa de La Caleta. It closed in 2006.
  • Its long beaches and pleasant temperatures make it an ideal all-year-round destination.
