The Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene (Polish: Sobór św. Marii Magdaleny) is a Polish Orthodox cathedral located in Warsaw, Poland.


Five interesting facts about the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene:

  • It was built in the Russian Byzantine style.
  • It was opened in 1869, serving the needs of a growing community of Russians settling in the area of present-day Praga Północ.
  • It is one of the two (the second is the Orthodox church in the Orthodox cemetery in Wola) surviving Orthodox churches in Warsaw after the demolition of Orthodox churches in Poland, once the country reclaimed its independence in the 1920s.
  • It was entered into the Polish register of monuments in 1965 under No. 741.
  • It is the main Polish Orthodox Church.
